Eight Wineries. Eight Perspectives.

Sometimes you don't need to explain the quality of South African wine. You just need to put the right people around the table.

Sunday, I had the opportunity to do exactly that. At a Sommelier & Wine Industry gathering, organised by Mike Ratcliffe we tasted different vintages from Vilafonté , Meerlust Wine Estate , Sadie Family Wines, Kanonkop Wine Estate , Restless River, Mullineux Family Wines and Klein Constantia Wine Estate . 

Eight producers. Eight perspectives. Multiple vintages. One fascinating reminder: South African wine has serious depth.

But what stayed with me most wasn’t just what was in the glass. It was hearing sommeliers from around the world talk about these wines. Their questions, their excitement and their curiosity.

That’s how South African wine becomes part of the international conversation. Not by telling people what to think, but by giving them something worth discovering.
